After Ethiopia and Kenya, the desire to reach out more to the poor around prompted SHM to venture into Tanzania. When the Archdiocese of Arusha sent an invitation in 2016 the sisters met Bishop Josaphat Louis Lebelu. He arranged visits to Kikwe mission, an outstation of Nambala parish 24km from the town of Arusha, was selected.

The centre officially opened on 17 November 2017 and the sisters support children with coaching classes and educational support; organise empowerment activities and micro projects to empower the women; and engage in visiting the sick, and families.

In 2022 the convent cum children’s home was built. The children’s home caters to orphans, single mothers’ children, and abused and abandoned children.
