SOCIETY OF THE HELPERS OF MARY
NITYA SEVA NIKETAN
In 1976 the Superior General of the Pilar Fathers offered SHM a room in their school in Rivona to start a centre. Later, land was bought on which was constructed residential quarters for the sisters, a dispensary for the villagers (later closed) and a shelter for destitute children.

To make the centre self-sufficient, the sisters planted sugarcane, rice, coconut trees, cashew trees, etc. They also had a dairy farm on the premises.

In 2004 CARE (Care Awareness Rehabilitation Empowerment), a home for HIV/AIDS women and children, was opened. A separate residence for the sisters was constructed and the Children’s Home was reconstructed separately as Bal Nivas.

In 2007 Imelda Ghar, a home for abandoned and dropout girls, was launched. For these girls, as well as for the village girls and boys, NIOS (National Institute for Open Schooling) affiliated with Pope John Paul II School at Quepem was begun. On 2 December 2021 a home for the elderly was opened.
