We began our work at Gangangaon 2004. In the beginning the sisters were visiting the villages to know the needs of the people.  The people are tribals, poor and illiterate. Sisters started dispensary, mobile clinics and social work.

 

MEDICAL

The dispensary caters to the poor people of surrounding villages. Once a week, on market day the doctor comes to the clinic and many patients come for the treatment for diseases like cold, cough, fever, diarrhea and scabies.  The critical cases are referred to hospitals.

 

EDUCATIONAL

We began a Care home for tribal girls in June 2011. Girls go to the nearby junior college. Since there is no transport facilities they were finding difficult to attend regular college.  As per the need of these young girls we began the home and as of now we have forty five girls studying from 1st to 12th standard.

We organize different sessions on value of education, moral values, singing, dancing, games and Yoga classes. The centre organize regular parents meetings and awareness on the importance of the education.

 

SOCIAL

The centre has 26 Self Help Group with 270 women.  They belong to different villages and Padas.  Every month they organize meetings and give instructions and guidance.  Every month the groups collect the amount as per their capacities of the members and deposit in the bank and this helps them to do inter loan program for repairing house, children’s education, medicine and wedding etc.

Village Development programs - The villagers were struggling without water, the women and children had to go long distance to fetch water.  So the centre supported to dig 6 bore wells in six villages. Now they have sufficient water for their use.  Around 20 families in each village benefiting this facilities.

 

Organized trainings to earn Livelihood/Income generating development training program for the village women by project office of Dahanu. The women are trained to make papad, pickle, different kind of Masala, baskets and varieties of sweets.  5 groups received utensils worth Rs. 50,000/- and other materials were given to start their business.
