ST. MARY'S CENTRE
Divya Jyoti was established in the year 1994 for the social upliftment of the tribal of Mandavi village in Kinwat Taluka of Maharashtra State. It is located in the District of Nanded, border of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh near Adilabad District. The place is full of flora and fauna. The people belong to various classes and tribes spread all over the valleys and mountains. The population here consists of Kolams, Bills, Bhanjaras, Adivasis, Gonds and other dalit communities.
The main problems of people are illiteracy, poverty, lack of job opportunities, child marriage and alcoholism. At present sisters are working in different fields through various socio- developmental projects.
ACTIVITIES
SOCIAL
Feeding program - mid day meal for senior citizens, differently abled, widows, orphans, patients suffering with HIV/AIDS and cancer patients. Meal is given 5 days in a week.
INCOME GENERATING SCHEMES
Clay pot, clay stove utilized by using fire wood or coal, putting up cloth shops, stationery shops, slipper shops, milk dairy, bangles, fruits and vegetables vendors, conducting tailoring classes for girls and women of the area after learning from our centre.
LOANS GIVEN
Cloth shop, Brick Kiln, Telephone booth, to set up repair shops, dig borewells, purchase of rickshaw, Snacks and Mess shop and construction of houses.
