Suvarna Sadan is a branch of the Society of the Helpers of Mary, involved & immersed in the Slums of Jogeshwari since 1971. People are from different culture but the main language they speak is Hindi, our National language. There are migrants from State such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Goa, Kerala, Manglore, Tamilnadu, Karnataka & rural Maharashtra. The main aim of the centre is to facilitate community organization with the marginalized groups like women, youth and children of all Faith.

The centre has formed several women’s groups. These groups have leadership qualities to assume responsibilities. Training for the groups is given in monthly meeting in respective areas. All the leaders of the various groups (women Council) meet once a month to discuss main activities of the groups. The various activities are conducted by the centre such as capacity building program for women, youth & children, self-help groups, credit society, tailoring class, legal aid centre, Children’s Group, Domestic workers groups, Senior citizen card making, Play school & it networks with likeminded Non-Governmental & Government organizations. Resources and information are exchanged. Joint programs are conducted in solidarity.

 

The centre aim at empowerment of women, children and youth in social transformation.
